Home Decorating Can Be Fun!

Home decorating, performed by yourself, can be rewarding and financially astute. It’s cheaper to buy the paint, the fabrics, the accessories and the wall coverings and apply them yourself than it is to get specialists to do it for you. Often labor is the most expensive part of any renovation so doing it yourself allows you to buy much higher quality products and stretch them further, doing more rooms with higher quality accessories and allowing you to achieve a feeling of much greater luxury.

It also prevents the failures in communication that blight collaborative projects. Even if someone else nearly gets what is in your head, almost understands your vision, there is always that part that is their interpretation, where there personality and vision comes in and taints yours. By doing it yourself you manage to show your whole vision and fashion a room purely from your imagination.

There is also the feeling of achievement. Doing something yourself, even though you will see the flaws and compromises that you will never see in someone else’s work, is a feeling of accomplishment that cannot be replaced by paying someone else to do it for you. It is the knowledge that a product and effect is honest, was created by your own imagination, effort and talent and allows you a sentimental attachment not just to the end product but also the process that went into creating it.

That said, here are some examples of home decorating that I’ve seen while browsing around Flickr.com. It’s great to draw inspiration from these and start making beautiful things on your own!
